MINNEAPOLIS, September 27, 2007—XATA Corporation (Nasdaq: XATA) on October 6, 2007 will release version 4.0 of its web-based XATANET® fleet operations optimization tools. Fleets implementing XATANET 4.0 will benefit from streamlined system management, instant notification of critical events, an enhanced view of day-to-day operations performance, increased security and an accelerated return on investment.
XATANET 4.0 also offers enhanced support for third-party in-cab displays and handheld devices. By extension, XATANET 4.0 will support third-party navigation services, future technology innovations and an even higher level of back-office application integration. XATANET 4.0’s ability to interface with non-proprietary devices gives fleet managers greater flexibility when choosing in-cab displays and third-party navigation services.
XATANET 4.0 fills a gap in fleet operations optimization by giving its customers an advantage over competitive offerings. As fleet managers refine and improve their operations through XATANET 4.0, they can offer their own customers an unprecedented level of accurate, on-time delivery, while reducing operations costs, improving driver safety and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Tested and implemented in the field, XATANET 4.0 features more than 14 enhancements, including:
“We’re pleased to bring an increased level of performance and functionality to our customers,” said Tom Flies, senior vice president, product management, XATA. “XATANET 4.0 not only offers enhanced recording and analytical tools for fleet managers, it provides a clear path for our OpCenter customers to upgrade to the XATANET platform.”
XATANET 4.0 has already undergone beta implementation on XATA’s client trucks across the country, including those with Plains All American Marketing and US Foodservice.
“Recording PTO usage, idle time, leg mileage and transit time are key to analyzing our operations,” said Michael Christ, IS Applications Supervisor, Plains All American Marketing. “With the XATANET 4.0 Exceptions and Learned Standards functions, we can quickly identify opportunities for implementing cost-saving measures.”
The XATANET system offers real-time location and mapping of fleet assets, the collection of operating data from vehicle sensors and the real-time exchange of driver, vehicle, route and delivery information via two-way wireless communications.
“Mandates by senior executives for improved fleet-related productivity and reduction in costs is making fleet management a top of the mind issue,” said Amit Jain, Research Director, Strategic Service Management Practice, AberdeenGroup. “Leading companies are using fleet management solutions to realize such benefits as a 26% improvement in regulatory compliance and a 13.0% improvement in vehicle utilization. Average annual operating costs savings of $1,100 per vehicle make adoption of fleet management solutions a no-brainer.”
XATANET 4.0 features will be available on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 12:01 Central time.
